Dylan Minnette Discloses His Reasons For Making An Exit From Acting

Dylan Minnette has divulged his rationale for departing from acting to pursue his passion in music with his group, Wallows.

Notable for his achievements in the acting realm, Dylan Minnette garnered attention initially as a youthful star in acclaimed series such as Lost, Scandal, and Grey’s Anatomy. He soared to greater notoriety as Clay Jensen on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and secured significant parts in high-profile movies like Don’t Breathe and the fifth installment of Scream.

However, for the current period, Dylan has chosen to halt his acting endeavors. His final recorded role was as Tyler Shultz in The Dropout in 2020, after which he fully immersed himself in his musical ambition as Wallows’ lead vocalist, having released two albums.

Dylan expressed, “I have this resolve to propel Wallows and our musical passion to the utmost heights. Now I’m afforded the luxury to solely concentrate on this pursuit. The only way to succeed is to fully dedicate my time and energy and approach it with utmost seriousness.”

He added, “Essentially, I’m guided by what naturally resonates and inspires me at the moment. Undoubtedly, I am immensely fortunate to be in this position. Everything is aligning beautifully, and we’re genuinely enjoying the journey.”

In regards to his future in acting, Dylan humorously remarked to his representatives, “I tell my agent and manager, ‘Let’s look at 2026!'”

Dylan also considered a return to acting in 2023, but revealed that “it coincided with the actors’ strike, and that opportunity failed to materialize.”

Dylan concluded his thoughts, stating, “At some juncture, once we’ve committed fully to our responsibilities with Wallows and when a pause as a band feels right, that will likely be the perfect time to draw inspiration and return [to acting].”
